Proper characterization of particle systems during bioprocess harvest is challenging, leading to issues in capacity and efficiency in other unit operations. Inline particle analysis provides direct, actionable process information that can be used to optimize harvest processes where other techniques such as turbidity are lacking.
In this webinar, we evaluate acidic precipitation of nucleic acids in cell culture broth to improve filtration and pre-chromatography impurity clearance. Alternative methods of HCP clearance and filtration outcomes with different flocculation reagents were also evaluated. In each process, offline analysis and filtration throughput studies alone were insufficient to fully characterize the processes. Inline particle analysis was required to understand clearance mechanisms and optimize harvest.
